Smooth-billed ani - Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park
This morning, while working along the southern end of the "Birding Trail", I heard and then saw a Smooth-billed Ani.
About 450' from the southern terminus of the trail (where it comes out between parking lots C and D), there are open, brushy areas on both sides of the trail. The ani first called from a large strangler fig at the far edge of the open area southwest of the trail. After a few calls, it flew to some large trees just off the southwest side of the trail, where it called a few more times. When I left the site about 15 minutes later, the bird was seen among the brush on the northeast side of the trail.
