June Challenge is a birding exercise by birders during the month of June who collect a list of birds in their local area. The idea came from by Becky Enneis of Alachua, Florida in 2004. Join us and find out what birds frequent your local area during the month of June. This site helps collect and process the data. It is also fun to see what your friends are seeing where they live!

For those planning on participating in the June Challenge, please also consider contributing the data you collect to the Florida Ornithological Society's Breeding Bird Atlas project. This project is a follow up to the first Breeding Bird Atlas which was completed during the 1986-1991 breeding seasons. 2017 will be the final year of data collection for the second Breeding Bird Atlas, and many areas of South Florida would benefit from additional coverage. Information on the project can be found at www.fosbba.org, or I can be contacted at [email protected]. Thanks for considering contributing your June Challenge data to this important citizen science project!
